More durable than bone and less porous than antler, Tagua is a wonderful material used to make jewelry and is even used to make reproductions of elephant ivory artifacts. Tagua grows in a club-like sheath and advances in the drying process from a liquid, when just picked, to a gel-like substance sometimes mixed with fruit to make a spread to a hardened nut that is then used for jewelry, buttons, chess pieces and more. This process can take from a few days, to weeks depending on whether the season is wet or dry. The Pottery shop has a large selection of items made from Tagua Seeds such as bracelets and necklaces in a variety of styles. This nut is amazing, and renewable and absolutely beautiful.

Care: To add shine to the necklace use a little coconut or olive oil and gently wipe the surface to restore the necklace to its original condition.
